Fleur de Thier Workshop was held on Saturday, 16 May and was a great opportunity for New Plymouth based dancers to connect with and learn from this fabulous Christchurch based teacher and choreographer. Fleur also created a new work for the Val Deakin Dance Theatre while she was in New Plymouth. Entitled Ka Pai, the work is a look at Kiwiana and life in New Zealand – a fitting piece for the Dance Theatre’s coming show As Kiwi As.
After a fabulously successful season of 14 sold out house of Giraffes Can’t Dance at the Dance Centre in August 2025, a repeat season was held in March 2026. These 4 performances were also sold out, and were enjoyed by cast and audience alike.
The Dance Theatre was invited to perform in the TAFT Winterfest programme SHE MOVES at the Theatre Royal in New Plymouth in June 2026. This wonderful programme combined the efforts of several dance groups in New Plymouth to showcase the wonderful range of talent in the dance field in this area. Two sections of Val Deakin’s Steps in Time were presented by the Dance Theatre, as well as sections from Fleur de Thier’s work Take a Seat. A great reception for all the works!
